The working group of strand three in inter}artes entitled its project Tradition of the New. This was to denote a heart-felt European consciousness of the continuous artistic traditions that trace the various aesthetic modes, creative practices, cultural histories and artistic skills of Europeans. Strand 3 of the inter}artes Socrates Thematic Network identifies innovative approaches to learning in the arts inspired by cultural, artistic and educational traditions particular to Europe.
